As first link in the emergency and social inclusion chain of action, Samusocial Perú operates in the Huaycán self-managed community under a participatory, multi-disciplinary and inter-sectorial approach.
Samusocial Perú focuses its intervention on extremely vulnerable populations, through prevention, care, community awareness and network strengthening actions.

Context of intervention
Huaycán is a slum based in the suburbs of the east of Lima, in the urban district of Ate. It was invaded in 1984 by people from province of Peru and children of migrants looking for better life conditions, and then by people from the Andean Highland, escaping from the political violence of the 90s. Today, Huaycán has a population of near 144,000 inhabitants and is still growing, as new migrant invasions arrive each year. The populations living in extreme poverty, and the most vulnerable to social, environmental and health risks, are located in these hillsides, where Samusocial Perú operates since 2005.
